I am trained in psychodynamic therapy, family systems, Hakomi, cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution focused and transpersonal therapies. Informed by this solid theoretical background, along with talk therapy I use methods that can touch quickly and directly into the unconscious, getting below defense patterns that are so hooked into the talking and rational mind. Some of these methods may include listening to the body’s language or expressing through art mediums. Since this may be new territory and can be powerful, I work very sensitively, first establishing a solid therapeutic relationship and then working at your comfort level, pace and choice of methods.
Hakomi is a mindfulness, experiential and somatic (or body-oriented) system of psychotherapy that draws on large perspectives from Buddhism, physics, General Systems Theory, and body-centered therapies. I use this method to help you, as a client, contact, experientially, the forces that influence your life now, including how you see yourself, others and the world.
